A BIT ABOUT SAND RACING

The Jersey Motor Cycle and Light Car Club has a long tradition of sand racing – in fact our Island of Jersey and our sister island Guernsey are one of the few places in the British Isles where official races are held.

Sand racing was introduced at Greve d'Azette and later at St. Brelade's Bay. These days West Park, Millbrook and Le Braye play host to around 10 events per year.

Sand racing is a unique and thrilling event that is held from the end of April through to September and includes competitors of all ages!

Our latest addition to the calendar is Beachcross. Have a scroll further down this page to find out more!

It’s free for spectators to watch!

Whether you’re an avid fan of the racing or just curious to watch these talented thrill-seekers zooming around the bay, come down and have a gander.

CARS AND BIKES

Junior bikes start at 50cc all the way through to senior motorcycle competitors. Sliders (speedway/grass track bikes) also enter the event.

The majority of cars are production cars in classes of 1400cc-1600cc and 2000cc and above. This helps keep the cost of the sport down as you can race a standard road car with a few modifications.

We also run a modified production class, which are for cars with town and country tyres on, roll cages and modified engines.

During the years these events have proved to be most entertaining and popular with both competitors and spectators alike.

LE BRAYE

This is home to our Western track, where the soft sand beach creates deep ruts in the corners—delivering a real test for riders and drivers.

Perched on another towering sea wall, spectators get prime views while grabbing a bite and drink at Le Braye Cafe, watching competitors battle wheel-to-wheel.

MILLBROOK

Front and centre for public viewing, Millbrook puts spectators right up close to the heart-pounding action - with killer vantage points from the elevated sea wall above.

Plenty of parking and a nearby kiosk make it a crowd pleaser.

Just a stone's throw from town, it's perfect for those who want big thrills without venturing far from St Helier!

wHAT IS BEACHCROSS?

Beachcross is a high-octane motorsport where riders on motorcycles, quads, or sidecar outfits race on beach circuits marked out on sand, blending elements of motocross.

Competitors tackle soft sand, deep ruts, man-made jumps, and dunes over loops typically 1km long.

It's hugely popular with spectators for the close-up action and atmosphere.

Beachcross can be found at our Millbrook events.
