TWO-DAY SPRINT SHOWDOWN

23rd October 2026

The Jersey Motorcycle & Light Car Club enjoyed two days of sprint action over the weekend of 17th and 18th October. On Saturday saw competitors gather at La Pulente for the third visit of the season to take on the speedy quarter-mile course heading north towards Le Braye.

Though conditions remained dry throughout the day, a significant headwind tested riders and drivers alike as they aimed for the line in the quickest time possible.

In the Modified Specialist Production up to 1400cc class, Steven Knight, piloting a 600cc crosskart, smashed the record set earlier in the year by Basil Jeanne. In the first official run of the day he beat the previous benchmark and throughout the event, lowered it further to end the day with a new record to his name standing at 12.74 seconds.

Fresh from his record-breaking run at Bouley Bay, Alex Salmon posted some impressive times in his Gould GR37 as he chased the record in the Racing Cars Unlimited class. His best run, a blistering 9.65 seconds, was the fastest of the day and brought him close to the long-standing record set by Jason Mourant nearly a decade ago. Paul Traylen was the fastest motorcycle, stopping the clock at 10.48 seconds.

On Sunday, the action moved to the Jardin de la Mer carpark, where a temporary course provided a technical test for riders. A new circuit plan for 2026 brought a more flowing layout with a higher average speed and, despite earlier forecasts of rain, conditions stayed dry until mid-afternoon, much to the delight of the 40-plus competitors.

With scooters and motorcycles ranging from 90cc to 1100cc, there was plenty to keep the crowd entertained as racing got underway mid-morning.

Supermoto machines made up more than half the field, and the fight for the win went back and forth all morning. Matt Le Brun led early, Jake Holland took over for several runs, and Le Brun hit back with his final run to win by 0.06 seconds. Adam Vibert took third, followed by Kerry Knowles and Declan Good in fourth and fifth.

The final speed event of the year takes place on 28th December, with a sprint at the Five Mile Road.
