SPRINT DOUBLE-HEADER

18th & 19th October, 2025

Two days of sprint action took place at the weekend during very changeable weather conditions. Day one saw Jersey Motorcycle & Light Car Club competitors return to the very fast Five Mile Road course along the island’s west coast, and with summer now behind, the mild temperatures and overcast sky of Saturday morning were not unwelcome for October.

Two records fell during the meeting, the first of which was claimed by Charles Humpleby. Driving his Caterham CSR 260, he knocked a quarter of a second off the previous record which had stood since 2021. The Road-Going Specialist Production Unlimited class record now stands at 13.31 seconds.

On two wheels, Sam Hunt returned on his GasGas 250 looking to improve on his own record from the previous event in June. With some further modifications to the bike, Sam posted consistent times throughout the event, and he ended the day shaving 0.03 seconds off his best, leaving the new benchmark in the 201-250cc Supermoto class at 13.01 seconds.

The top 3 fastest competitors of the day were Paul Traylen on his Yamaha R1 with an impressive time of 10.16 seconds, followed by Ryan Hidrio on his Aprilia Tuono V4 with a best run of 10.55 seconds, and quickest of the four wheels, Michael Salmon piloting his OMS CF04 with a 10.81 second run.

Sunday morning brought a change of scenery as the Jardin de la Mer carpark played host to the single Twisty Sprint event of the JMC&LCC calendar. The event, open to motorcycle entrants only, brings a unique challenge as competitors race against the clock around a technical course including off-camber bends and tight hairpins. The wet conditions added another level of difficulty as the grey skies and rain remained throughout the day, leaving large areas of standing water over the circuit.

A strong entry of 45 riders, this time bolstered by a growing contingent of scooter entries, took to the challenge. In perhaps the most entertaining class of the day, full of thrills and indeed spills, Greg Mansell topped the timing sheets on a 125cc Peugeot with Jake Holland and Zac Holland, both on the same machinery, claiming 2nd and 3rd positions to complete the top three in the 70-149cc Scooter class.

The 351-500cc Supermoto class was once again the largest field of the meeting as many familiar names from the Bouley Bay hill climb events accompanied by some newcomers geared up for a shootout in the adverse conditions. Right from the outset, it was Matt Le Brun who led the way on his Husqvarna 450 and he remained in the top spot throughout the day being the only rider to go under the 38-second mark. Behind Le Brun was Adam Vibert riding his KTM 450, securing second place with some very consistent times and fending off his father Larry Vibert in the process, who picked up 3rd position. The top 5 was completed by Charlie Hart and Kerry Knowles, both enjoying solid performances.

The final sprint of the 2025 calendar is scheduled for Saturday 27th December with action starting at 10:30am.
