The penultimate Moto-x of the JMC & LCC championship took place on Sunday at Sorel Point, with very unpredictable weather. Heavy rain in the morning, made the conditions very slippery, but by mid afternoon the track was perfect.
Elliot Jackson lifted the E McGarragle Ltd trophy of the day in the Big Wheel 85cc class with three wins, despite having competed in France the previous day and endured a three hour drive back to St Malo for the early morning boat. He now heads this championship from Jack Clayden who only competed one race due to mechanical problems. One championship decided is the small wheel 85cc class with Joshua Connery now unbeatable, despite not having the best of events, with a win in race one and three and a DNF in the second race. Damian Ribiero won the event on the day with three consistent runner up spots, whilst Adam Godwin also had a mixed day with a win, third and fourth place. He is 29 points ahead of Ribiero for runner up spot and will need to finish all three races in the final event, which takes place this Sunday.
The automatic bikes found the conditions tough going in the morning, but in the afternoon it was Archie Langlois who decided to tackle the course and with three wins has now extended his lead over J Cousins.
The B group again saw three different winners with Guernsey man Aaron Lesbirel taking the first win, Birthday boy Aaron Baudin taking the second win and Thomas Mollet the final win of the day. However this championship has now been decided with Laurie Wheatley taking the overall crown with consistent results throughout the season.
The Veterans championship has also been decided with Michael Norman taking the top spot, but on the day’s racing it was Mark Birrell who took the honours on his Suzuki 450cc bike.
The A group is still undecided for the championship. There is only 18 points between current leader Sam Allix and Lee Le Viellez. Only a DNF in the final event of the season will cost Allix the championship, as he dropped 6 points to Le Viellez this weekend. Matthew Rayson was unlucky in the first race as he and Le Viellez had a great tussle during the 15 minute plus one lap race and going into the meadow for the final time he came off his bike and to everyone’s surprise Le Viellez emerged out to take the chequered flag. Meanwhile in the second race, it was Allix and Le Viellez who were battling for the lead, when both fell at the same place and allowed Rayson to continue to the chequered flag. Evan Kaye was very consistent with third place results. Aaron Pipon entered the event on a 1982 Suzuki, which was 12 years older then himself, however happy to say, that Pipon lasted longer than the bike, as due to mechanical problems he only managed one race!!!!
The final championship event takes place this Sunday 15th September with practice at 10.00am and racing from 1.00pm. Free admission and Catering is available.
