• 2017 Easter Monday Hill Climb Programme

A full entry list will contest the first Valla Hill climb of the 2017 season on Easter Monday at Bouley Bay.  After a successful shakedown at the first sprint of the year competitors will be raring to go and put down some good times with an eye on qualification for the National Hill climb in July.

Easter Monday’s hill climb will also see the return to the island of the first round of the Pirelli Ferrari Hill climb Championship .The 2017 season will see the Ferrari’s competing in 15 rounds from Doune in Scotland right down to their favourite Easter weekend break in Jersey. The best 8 scores count towards the final championship positions, with the differences in car performance evened out by a handicap system based on the cars potential performance.  5 Ferraris are so far entered. Favourite to win is Pauline Goodwin in her 328 who was 5th placed in last year’s championship. Close on her heals will be Mark Wibberley in a 360 Spyder who placed 8th Overall last season. As always it will be a spectacle to behold as these high powered and very valuable machines howl up the hill.

The largest local class of the day is ever competitive 500cc Bike Class with most of the top riders in the Island doing battle. Favourite for top spot is Oliver Holmes who if conditions are good will feel he can improve on his outright hill record for bikes of 42.97 seconds set last August. I am sure also that Lee Le Feuvre will try everything he can to catch and beat Oliver and maybe if conditions are right grab the record for himself.

James Langlois is another competitor who will be looking to lower his own record set in July 2016 Road going production class in his very quick Fiesta.

Battle between father Barry Moignard and daughter Jodie Bush who share Skoda V8 sports car in the Sports Libra unlimited. Recently Barry has been quicker but Jodie has the ability to turn this round as she has shown in the past. The battle will be worth watching…

Another family combination to watch out for is that of seasoned competitor Kevin Rault in his Escort Rally car and his son Kayden on his 85 cc KTM bike. Both showed very good form at the recent sprint and will be looking to show good form at the first hill climb of the season too.

Watch out too for the ever spectacular Mick Lancashire back in his Green Hyabusa engined Westfield. Mick is always super-fast and will be looking to grab an early record if he can.

Richard Wilson is back after an engine rebuild in his Pauls Tyres Caterham R300. Richard will be sure to crack the magic sub 50 second mark and perhaps have a go at Vince Lees Bakers Specialist Production record of 46.13. He could have his hands full with Jim Langlois in a Caterham Supersprint showing good form recently and the word is out that he has had some suspension tuning over the winter.

Other quick runners to watch out for are Len Amy in his Mallock Sports car and the ever quick and ever spectacular Jeremy Baudains  in his Escort Mk2.

Practice starts at 10 am with racing commencing at about 11 o’clock.
